The offline bar
What the red bar means, what still works, and what will not save.
When your phone loses its connection, a red bar slides in at the very top of the screen:
No internet connection, using cached data
It goes away by itself the moment the connection comes back. There is nothing to dismiss.
What still works
- Reading anything the app had already loaded, including item details it had opened.
- Moving between the Inbox, Home and Settings.
- Changing your theme in Settings.
What does not
Anything that has to reach Sadie. Resolving an item, assigning it, saving a note, rating a call, changing your notification settings. Each fails with That did not save. Try again. and the screen goes back to what the server actually holds, so you are never told something saved when it did not.
Calling a guest back is a phone call, not an app action, so it works on any signal that can carry a call.
When you are back
Pull down on the list to refresh. The bar disappears, the numbers catch up, and anything you could not save has to be done again.
The bar will not go away
Your phone thinks it has no usable connection. Turn flight mode on and off, or switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data. Some venue Wi-Fi lets a phone connect without reaching the internet, which counts as offline here and is worth ruling out first.
