Push notifications
Let the app send notifications, and know where a tap will take you.
A push notification is the buzz in your pocket when something at the venue wants a person. Tapping it takes you straight to the thing it is about, so you are not hunting for it in a list.
Turn them on
The first time you open the app on a real phone, your phone asks whether Sadie Resto may send you notifications. Say yes. If you said no, or you were never asked, turn notifications on for Sadie Resto in your phone's own settings.
Notifications need a real phone
A simulator cannot receive push notifications. Nothing will arrive there, and nothing is wrong.

What a tap opens

This holds whether the app was open, in the background, or closed. If you tap a notification while the app is still working out which company you are in, the app waits and takes you there once it knows, rather than dropping you on the wrong screen.
When a tap goes nowhere useful
Sometimes a tap opens the app without opening the item. There are three reasons, and none of them mean the item is lost.
- The notification is about an item in a different company from the one you are working in.
- The notification does not say which company it belongs to.
- The notification points somewhere this version of the app does not know about.
In each case, open the notification center and find the item there. A call also shows in the Inbox; a form response shows only in the notification center.
While the app is open
A notification about one of your items shows its banner and plays its sound even while you are looking at the app, because it may be about a venue you are not currently on.
Other notifications stay quiet while the app is open. They still land in your phone's notification list and in the notification center, so nothing goes missing while you are reading something else.
